Our next convention will be September 29 to October 4, 2025 in Niagara Falls. We have selected a great, modern convention center for the annual meeting. Niagara Falls Convention Center has plenty of space for our meetings, meals, breakout sessions, raffle, and auctions. It also has space for a kite art/artist recognition reception, and a Great Hall for indoor kite flying. We are looking forward to wonderful food at our Welcome reception, the Kite Art reception, the Auction, and the Awards banquet. The Sheraton Niagara Falls host hotel is right across the street from the convention center, making for a very easy morning commute. In addition, the American Falls is a short walk from both the hotel and convention center, and Goat Island is a very short drive from the hotel, where you can look at the Falls from the middle of the Niagara River. AKA has created a formal Request for Proposals. If you are interested in becoming the next Kiting editor, and want to receive a copy of our RFP, click here. Daniel Prentice has edited AKA’s quarterly Kiting magazine for the last 10 years. He’s done an exceptional job communicating the joys of kite flying through our magazine. He says that this “has been one of the highlights of my work in the kite community.” He’s decided that it’s time to step aside and let someone else share their vision of the AKA kite world. We are sincerely grateful for his services on our behalf for the last 10 years. AKA is searching for a new Editor for Kiting magazine. The Kiting Editor’s job is challenging but includes the built-in reward of working with kite people all over the world. The Kiting Editor is paid per issue on a fixed price basis, including labor, overhead, general, and administrative expenses, use of computers and other office equipment. The AKA Board of Directors decides compensation. AKA will also reimburse reasonable travel, hotel, and registration expenses for the Editor’s attendance at our Annual Meeting and Convention. If you are interested in this position, proposals are due August 5. The Editor’s work for AKA will begin on September 1, 2025 on December’s issue of Kiting. For more details, email kitepub@gmail.com. Competition results from AKA’s 2024 45th National Convention in Seaside Oregon are below. |
